Reflections below written by dancer May Munk, from KPN community.
{So good, we had to share.}
"Someone comes to a contact jam.
Their eyes find the most experienced dancers on the floor.
If they are brave, they will go to dance with them
or maybe they will stay seated, observing their moves
taking notes.
Why did they come?
To learn how to dance.
Someone comes to a contact jam.
Their eyes find an inviting space on the floor.
If they come loaded with emotion, they will dance it out
and if they come empty, the space will fill them
Why did they come?
They came to dance.
Someone comes to a contact jam.
Their eyes find someone interesting to them.
If they are brave, they will initiate a meeting
which could be creative, playful, energetic, sensual
deep or humorous
Why did they come?
They came to connect.
Someone comes to a contact jam.
They come, and their eyes aren't searching.
Whatever arises will move them
Whatever is alive in the space, they become
part of, shaping and becoming shape
Why did they come?
To be, and be part.
Someone comes to a contact jam.
They are not quite sure what they are looking at
because they haven't seen this kind of thing before
They are not quite sure what they are doing
or why
Why did they come?
Because someone invited them.
Someone comes to a contact jam.
They come, and they close their eyes.
They come, and they stay in their body
they stay with all that needs to be felt
so it can be seen, heard, moved and held.
Why did they come?
They came to heal.
Someone comes to a contact jam.
Their eyes estimate the social status of the people dancing
and they position themselves accordingly
making their moves.
Why did they come?
They came to be seen.
Someone comes to a contact jam.
Their eyes find all the things they dislike.
They think they know what they are looking for
and they know that this is not it.
They might dance with the people they know,
or they might go.
Why did they come?
They came to judge.

"Someone comes to a contact jam.
Their eyes find what they find sexually arousing.
They approach, and make their moves.
Why did they come?
They came to date.
Someone comes to a contact jam.
They sit down, and they observe
they draw, write their experience; they paint
or sound, savor and save it
Why did they come?
They came for inspiration.
Someone comes to a contact jam
and if you asked them;
Why are you here?
maybe there wouldnt be any problem
if everyone could give their answer
with self-awareness, in honesty.
Now, translate this into life in general
and maybe the world would finally find peace.."

Continued from last email (Pt 2/2) Here are some objections I often hear when it comes to signing up for workshops. Honestly, I've had the same ones too in my journey as a dancer. Reason 1 "I don't have enough training." My skill level in Contact skyrocketed in residencies, of 3 weeks to a month long, or 5 day festivals. I was a"beginner" by all means before then. Current is a week, with 5 day option. I tell dancers in my workshops, training is equally important as practicing. You learn...
