Feedback from last round

"For me, Contact is about life. How life is going, but very concentrated. If you are not in Contact with a person, you hurt the connection. It’s impossible. What we did here for 4 days, exploring our bodies, millimeters change everything. Many universes are in our bodies and how many universes we can create together. In my country, every day one bomb can kill so many people in one second. If policeman danced Contact once, they could not hurt others. It sounds terrible, but the beauty of life is this variety. We are blessed that we can explore so much in our bodies. To feel alive. I want to live. To dance."

GAYATRI, UKRAINE

“I really enjoyed the feminine softness, the contrast in the teaching versus more dynamic masculine approach, were harmonized. It was really interesting watching my own responses, to push myself, or go with my own rhythm. Adjusting, but listening as well. I felt resistance the first two days and now I don’t want to go home. Now I feel more comfortable, playful and relaxed."

TAURI, England

“I feel like I got to explore some of my emotional landscape through movement. To put it into words, to share it. I can see it unfolding in my body this week. Getting to explore that with other people. To just be here, with whatever is happening. It’s all ok. There’s a lot of possibility.”

NATHANIA, Indonesia

“I started dancing Contact a year ago. never danced it before. I had a lot of resistance and I learned how to not push myself. I’m happy I was challenged overall. Great 4 days. I got out of my shell.”

ALEX, Ukraine

“The more that I do this, the more I realize it’s what I need to be doing. It’s fascinating. It stays with me while we dancing, but also while I’m driving home, while I’m talking to friends and family. I really appreciate the writing exercise, I thought I wouldn’t like it. I’ve reached something else. Not just in the jamming but in more guided movement classes, which are so valuable. Thank you for this!”

SERGIO, Mexico

The Faces of Ci podcast is back in action after a near year long haitus! Live again from Towards CI50 Conference we chat with Damla özçelik, Contact Improvisation Facilitator in Thailandia, orginally from Turkey. @damlallala is the face behind @ci_thailand "How can we actually drop these roles and whatever the dance, the movement, the touch is, just let go, without this idea of "What can I do"? ." - Damla Live again from Towards CI50 Conference we chat with Damla özçelik, Contact...

Continued from last email (Pt 2/2) Here are some objections I often hear when it comes to signing up for workshops. Honestly, I've had the same ones too in my journey as a dancer. Reason 1 "I don't have enough training." My skill level in Contact skyrocketed in residencies, of 3 weeks to a month long, or 5 day festivals. I was a"beginner" by all means before then. Current is a week, with 5 day option. I tell dancers in my workshops, training is equally important as practicing. You learn...
